License/Certifications Required: N/A Essential Duties and Responsibilities: This primary purpose of the News Adviser is to: - Advise and educate students in all aspects of the Appalachian student news organization's reporting, publication, distribution, marketing, community and university relations, revenue generation, and business, professional, and editorial activities across varied and integrated media platforms;
- Foster an inclusive, dynamic, and sustainable newsroom that prepares students to be competitive candidates in the media industry;
- Balance the Appalachian's annual budget and maintain sustainable advertising revenue streams;
- Develop and maintain collaborative content-generating relationships with other student media platforms.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in college newspaper advising, producing news for multiple platforms, budget management and revenue generation, and success in recruiting and supporting diverse working groups.
