Job Description:
The Broadcast & Digital Journalism Department (BDJ) at Syracuse University's S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications is seeking a seasoned multimedia journalist to join our team as a fulltime Professor of Practice (PoP).
The successful candidate will have a track record of excellence in reporting news, at a network or in a major news market, on multiple platforms including: television, web, and social media. Specifically, the successful candidate will have extensive experience reporting; shooting and editing video; and storytelling for broadcast, web and social media platforms. Additional skills such as data journalism/visualization and audio storytelling/podcasting are a plus.
This position is the perfect opportunity for an experienced multimedia journalist who is interested in teaching the next generation of journalists how to tell stories across multiple platforms. A Professor of Practice is expected to stay active in the professional world of journalism and may use their summers to continue working in journalism. This position has a start date of August 2023.

Newhouse BDJ alumni are employed at all levels of journalism organizations around the world. BDJ alumni help provide students with an employment pipeline into the professional world.
The BDJ faculty are a diverse group of journalists with extensive professional experience and varied academic research and creative interests. We are passionate about the goal of training the journalists of tomorrow. We require our students work very hard at developing their skills. This requires us to work just as hard to give them what they need. Teaching in BDJ is not a step into semi-retirement.
