Learn with time to evaluate the value and logic of content in the field of pavement engineering and materials. Perform ADA remediation of technical reports and other technical content.
Edit copy for publications of technical and marketing materials such as website content, newsletters, annual reports, project reports, and memorandums.
Assist the UCPRC Publications Manager (Writer Editor 3) with the management of a publications process that produces technical reports and memoranda, summary reports, brochures, posters, and PowerPoint presentations for different audiences, including Americans with Disability (ADA) compliance per Caltrans requirements.
Communicate revisions and comments among staff as needed. Coordinate content and editorial revision among staff, government agencies, industry, and university researchers under the direction of the UCPRC Publications Manager.
Edit website content generated by UCPRC staff and assist with the development and maintenance of the UCPRC website. Content includes news, very short articles, photos, job postings, annual reports, newsletters, and publications access.
Support staff and graduate students by answering questions regarding style, grammar, citations, and formatting.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications

Demonstrated experience as a technical editor and experience with the publications process. Demonstrated editing skills, including familiarity with the issues, principles, lexicon in an academic setting.
Experience working with reference library applications (e.g., EndNote, Zotero).
Knowledge and experience revising, editing, and proofing content for scholarly journals and publications.
Extensive knowledge of established style guide such as The Chicago Manual of Style. Experience using and following other organizational style guides.
Demonstrated written and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to work with multiple authors (often with English as a second language). including UCPRC staff and from government agencies, universities, and private industry.
Time and project management skills to determine priorities and meet multiple deadlines as part of the UCPRC document review and publication process.
Extremely proficient in Microsoft Word with advanced skills, including the development of Word templates and use of macros and other programs to manipulate both Excel and Word. Familiarity with other publications applications, including Adobe Acrobat and InDesign, and formats, including PDFs.
Preferred Qualifications
Degree in journalism, literature, or other related discipline.
Website maintenance and database development experience.
