Assistant Director of Communications (WRITER EDITOR 3)
Job Summary
Under direction of the Associate Athletics Director, External Relations, this position is involved with the day-to-day communications and media relations operations for UC Davis' 25 varsity sports, including publicizing, filling media requests and generating media interest for the intercollegiate athletics program. Keep and maintain statistics and historical records for varsity sports, update the official athletics website, write feature stories for department and campus publications, serve as host media relations director at home events and tournaments, handle confidential public relations issues and fulfills other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license, certification and/or educational degree if required of the position.
Public speaking experience.
Experience working with local, regional and national media.
Experience with StatCrew statistics software for a variety of sports, including in-game use, and experience with statistics for a variety of sports.
Design experience using Adobe Photoshop
Experience working in an NCAA Division I college athletics media relations or sports information office. Knowledge of NCAA rules as they relate to media relations and statistics.
Writing and editing skills with news releases and feature stories about collegiate athletics.
Skills to work on Macintosh computers as well as in Adobe InDesign, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with the internet both as research and communication tools.
Experience updating websites with news and photos on deadline using Netitor.
Experience dealing with sensitive and confidential public relations matters. Experience with handling confidential public relations matters.
