About the position
Wirecutter is seeking an associate projects editor to become part of our Managing Edit team, contributing to our editorial planning and processes. Associate projects editors build tools and workflows to facilitate meaningful work with teams across Wirecutter.
As an associate projects editor, you will report to and work closely with the projects editor, and be responsible for several aspects of our content planning and execution. You will play a key role in our editorial events and initiatives, and oversee improvements to existing workflows, databases, and documentation. If you find value in collaboration and solving tough problems (and appreciate a color-coded spreadsheet), you’ll enjoy our work. This role has the potential to be remote.
Contribute to our content planning process, including communication around pitches, deadlines, and new assignments, keeping stakeholders informed of any issues
Collaborate on editorial project management for retail events (i.e., Prime Day, Black Friday), curated Wirecutter deal events, and other seasonal projects
Maintain and update our content database, project management tools, and documentation hub
Identify inefficiencies and opportunities to improve various editorial workflows, tools, and processes; collaborate with colleagues across Wirecutter to improve their teams’ workflows
Assist with and facilitate onboarding and training for new editorial employees, including how to use our various tools, navigate our databases, and access documentation
Train on and make minor changes in our content management system, and help adapt posts for syndication
Prepare periodic announcements, calendar events, meeting agendas, and newsletters for our staff
Perform related work as assigned
3+ years of professional experience in project management or journalism
Extensive experience managing various priorities, assignments, and stakeholder relationships simultaneously
Comfort and familiarity in leading training sessions, presenting data and ideas to colleagues, and writing process documentation
Familiarity with Airtable, Basecamp, Confluence, and/or Zapier is a plus
